    THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PIECE MADE BY EUGENE HUNT IN 1996. I HAVE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK. SOLD BY CANADIAN HERITAGE STORE. DATE OF SALE 9-26-96. FOR 4.00
    THE DRUM IS OF GOOD SIZE, MEASURES APPROX 20" ACROSS AND 3" TALL.
    APPEARS TO BE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITHOUT DAMAGE. THERE ARE SOME SLIGHTLY DARKER AREAS ON THE SKIN, WHICH APPEARS NATURAL TO THE PIGMENT. FEW DARK ORANGE SPOTS QUITE SMALL. I LIKE TO NOTE EVERYTHING. AREA THAT HAS SOME SLIGHT WRINKLES IN DRUM SKIN. SHOWN SECOND TO LAST PHOTO. PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS, USE ZOOM FEATURE.

    THER IS A STORY OF A KILLER WHALE. THE MUCH FEARED RULER OF THE DEEP. THE WHALE WAS USUSLLY THE VILLIAN OF INDIAN LEGENDS. AS THEY DEPENDED ON THE SEA FOR THIER FOOD. ONLY THE WEST COAST NOOTKA PEOPLE AND MAKAH LIVING ON CAPE ALVA IN THE OLYMPIC PENNINSULA IN WASHINGTON, ACTIVELY HUNTED THE GREY WHALE.
    ONE SUCH TALE INVLOVESA YOUNG GIRL KIDNAPPED BY A WHALE. HER HUSBAND RESCUED HER WITH THE HELP AND ASSISTANCE OF FRIENDLY BIRDSANDANIMALS, AFTER PRACTISING BLACK MAGIC.
    EUGENE HUNT BORN TO CHIEF THOMAS AND EMMA HUNT AT ALERT BAY, B.C. ON THE NORTHERN TIP OF VANCOUVER ISLAND IN 1946. HE IS KWAGIULTH AND A MEMBER OF HE FORT RUPER BAND.
    EUGENE IS REALTED TO THE WELL KNOWNHUMT FAMILY OF MASTER CARVERS. HE IS AN OLDER BROTHER CALVIN AND ROSS AND A YOUNGER BROTHER OF GEORGE SR. HE HAS BEEN CARVING SINCE THE 1960'S. TAUGHT BY MUNGO MARTIN ALONG WITH HENRY AND TONY HUNT SR. AT THE ROYAL B.C. MUSEUM'S THUNDERBIRD PARK IN VICTORIA. HE STAYED THERE FOUR YEARS THEN BECAME A FULL TIME COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN.
    IN 1987 EUGENE RETURNED TO CARVING AND ALSO MOVED INTO PAINTING. HE HAS PRODUCED A NUMBER OF LIMITED EDITION SILKSCREENS AS WELL AS DRUMS AND PADDLES BUS HIS FAVORITE MEDIUM REMAINS WOOD- PARTICULARLY MASKS AND RATTLES. HE HAS WORKED WITH CALVIN HUNT, GEORGE HUNT JR. AND JOHN LIVINGSTON.
    EUGENE IS MARRIED AND CURRENTLY LIVES & WORKS IN VICTORIA. HE STILL GOES OUT FISHING IN THE SUMMER MONTHS.
